Deloitte eyes to generate 1,000 jobs in PHL by 2024

US-based professional services and consulting firm Deloitte is eyeing to generate around 1,000 jobs in the Philippines as it opened its global delivery center in the country to serve clients in the Asia Pacific region.

In a media roundtable at the company's global delivery center in Taguig City on Thursday, Deloitte Consulting LLP principal and Global Delivery Network leader Jeff Jordan said the company is making a substantial financial investment in the Philippines over multiple years.

Jordan, however, did not disclose the amount of financial commitments Deloitte will pour into the country but said this will cover for their expansion of operations, including the hiring of professionals to grow its pool of local talents.

Deloitte Consulting Philippines Delivery Center (PDC) currently employs about 150 people since it began operations in February.

"We've committed around 700 (jobs) over a few years but I believe given the market where we are going, we could see thousand [by] 2024," Jordan said.

For his part, Deloitte Consulting PDC managing director Uday Sreeram said the company is looking for professionals in the field of engineering, information technology, computer science, and design.

Sreeram said Deloitte has partnered with recruitment agencies for experienced employees and schools such as the University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, and iACADEMY for its University Alliance Program to recruit fresh graduates.

"We will tap more schools in the coming months," Sreeram said.

Deloitte is a leading global provider of audit and assurance, consulting, financial advisory, risk advisory, tax and related services.

Its network of member firms in more than 150 countries and territories serves four out of five Fortune Global 500 companies.

In the Philippines, its delivery center-based consulting services focused on technology are provided by the new Deloitte Consulting PDC.

Deloitte Consulting PDC is the firm’s first global delivery center in Asia Pacific and will predominantly cater to the organization’s clients in the region.

“The Philippines is an ideal location given the convenience in time zones since we will be, for the most part, servicing our clients’ businesses and operations in  Asia Pacific. Most importantly, there is an abundance of young talent from the local universities that have the passion and ambition to develop a career in the global IT arena,” Sreeram said.

“Filipino IT  professionals will have a chance to enhance their skills and gain valuable experience from working on major international projects, and expand their knowledge and get valuable insights from our talented staff in Deloitte technology centers worldwide,” he said. — MDM, GMA News
