‘Numerous complaints’ prompted Duterte to order Kapa Ministry shutdown —Panelo

“Numerous complaints” brought to the attention of President Rodrigo Duterte prompted him to order authorities to shut down Kapa-Community Ministry International for alleged investment scam.

Duterte’s spokesperson Salvador Panelo issued the statement on Monday—two days after the President issued the directive.

“There had been numerous complaints with the President. In fact, me too, I have been receiving complaints about certain people there,” Panelo said at a news conference.

“That may have prompted the President … ordering the closure.” Duterte’s verbal pronouncement was enough for authorities to end Kapa Ministry’s operations, Panelo noted.

“If the crime is being committed now, they can stop it; they can padlock that company,” the Palace spokesperson said.

Duterte said last Saturday that Kapa Ministry was clearly “into syndicated estafa” and advised the public that “when it is too good to be true, it is fraud.”

The Securities and Exchange Commission in March made permanent its cease and desist order (CDO) against Kapa Ministry to stop soliciting investments as it did not have the proper license to do so. —VDS, GMA News
