Some 3,000 Grab TNVS saved from deactivation
Some 3,000 out of the 8,000 transport network vehicle services (TNVS) accounts that have been listed for deactivation have been saved, Grab Philippines said on Tuesday.
Grab Philippines President Brian Cu on Tuesday faced Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chair Martin Delgra III during a hearing in connection with the deactivation of 8,000 TNVS.
Cu told the board that after deactivation plans were announced, many of the affected TNVS account holders submitted the required documents before the June 7 deadline.
“Since last week up to yesterday, the 3,000 out of the 8,000 submitted proper documentation. These drivers and operators showed proof,” Cu told Delgra.
As a result, around 3,000 TNVS accounts were saved from deactivation.
The TNVS accounts up for deactivation failed to submit the provisional authority and certificate of public convenience to the LTFRB.
The 8,000 TNVS accounts were identified and assessed based on LTFRB’s master list, Cu noted.
The TNVS account holders that were deactivated on Monday, including drivers and operators, hold a protest caravan to appeal for an extension of deadline for submitting the required documents.
Hatchback Community, a TNVS group, noted there were drivers and operators who applied for the requirements with LTFRB but the process was quite slow.
To keep the number of their operating vehicles sufficient, Grab opened 10,000 TNVS slots which were filled as of Monday night, Cu said in a separate press conference on Tuesday. —VDS, GMA News
