Kapa to focus on legal actions vs. gov’t crackdown —convenor
The convenor of Kapa-Community Ministry International Inc. on Thursday said they will now focus more on legal action and address accusations that they are an investment scam.
“More on legal actions na kami,” Kapa convenor Danny Mangahas told reporters on the sidelines of a rally in Quezon City.
Kapa Ministry members from various parts of Luzon marched from Visayas Avenue to Quezon Memorial Circle, blowing whistles and chants slogans.
“Go Kapa! Go Kapa!” the protesters shouted. They were all wearing with white shirts.
Mangahas noted around 5,000 Kapa members from different parts of Luzon joined the rally.
The protesters want President Rodrigo Duterte to reconsider the shutdown of the religious sect, clarifying that they are not ‘enemies’ of the President.
Mangahas said Thursday’s rally in Quezon City will be the last in Luzon, as they will focus more on legal matters.
Kapa founder and president Joel A. Apolinario, trustee Margie A. Danao, and corporate secretary Reyna L. Apolinario were among the accused in the complaint.
They allegedly perpetrated an investment scam in violation of Republic Act No. 8799, or the Securities Regulation Code (SRC).
Duterte earlier ordered the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police to shut down Kapa.
Some of its members belied allegations that the investment scheme of the group was a scam.
Apolinario’s whereabouts remains unknown. He has not even joined any of the group’s rallies. —VDS, GMA News
