WITHDRAW YOUR CASHABLE BALANCE

Carpool app Wunder to stop operations on June 28

Carpooling application Wunder Carpool on Monday urged its customers to withdraw all cashable balances by Friday this week, as the company is set to end its Philippine operations.

In an advisory emailed to its customers, Wunder said its operations will only be available until Friday, June 28, after which the app will no longer be accessible.

“Believe us when we say that this decision was not taken lightly. We gave it a lot of thought and came to the conclusion that, in order to maximize our efforts in accelerating our vision of a better mobility ecosystem worldwide, stopping our operations in Manila on the 28th of June would be the most appropriate course of action,” the email read.

“This means that our carpooling platform and our support channels will be available until that date, after which the Wunder Carpool app will no longer be accessible,” it added.

According to its official website, Wunder is a “carpooling app that connects people commuting in the same direction to work and/or back home.”

“The app automatically matches you with other carpoolers based on your location and route as well as your travel time,” said Wunder.

In 2017, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ordered Wunder, along with motorcycle taxi application Angkas, to cease operations as they were not accredited by the board.

On its website, however, Wunder said it only plays the role of a social platform that connects people commuting in the same direction.

“It is no problem to carpool as long as you aren’t making a profit/business out of it! Carpooling with Wunder is just like giving a friend a ride,” said Wunder.

Wunder said all operations will “continue as normal” until June 28, and that customers may only be able to continue using their Wunder Wallet balance to pay for rides until then.

“Having said that, please make sure to withdraw all your cashable balance by the 28th of June in order to ensure that you get your money in due time,” it added. —VDS, GMA News
