Facebook, DICT team up to train Pinay entrepreneurs


Facebook has teamed up with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to train women entrepreneurs in how grow their businesses online.

The partnership, which also counts Connected Women—a global community of women entrepreneurs, freelancers, and professionals—recently trained participants in online marketing.

“This year, we look forward to supporting more women entrepreneurs, by providing them with critical skills and tools to help them thrive in the digital marketplace,” Beth Ann Lim, head of Community Affairs for Asia Pacific at Facebook, said in an emailed statement.

Launched in the Philippines in 2017, #SheMeansBusiness seeks to reach women entrepreneurs through a series of workshops and online resources on growing their respective businesses.

“We at the DICT are happy to work with Connected Women and Facebook to help us reach and teach women about ICT-related livelihood opportunities and how to access them,” said Atty. Ivin Ronald D.M. Alzona, assistant secretary at the DICT.

This year’s first workshop was held in Muntinlupa City, one of the Information Communication Technology Centers for Excellence in the Philippines.
