Grab, LTFRB in talks over ‘problematic’ processing of TNVS permits
Ride-hailing service Grab Philippines and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) are discussing the issues raised by Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) drivers and operators.
“Grab too has a number of concerns which it has brought to the attention of the LTFRB. We will continue to keenly monitor discussions as the common goal is to address process issues,” Grab Philippines Public Affairs Jenicka Hosaka said in a statement.
The company clarified that it supports TNVS drivers in raising their concerns with the LTFRB, but has discouraged today’s TNVS Transport Holiday—a protest move against the “problematic” processing of applications at the LTFRB.
“We believe, however, that a dialogue with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board is in order to discuss all options and solutions available to address the current issues,” Hosaka said.
TNVS partners who did not join Monday’s strike considered the “riding public’s interests above their own,” Grab noted.
“Despite the TNVS transport holiday initiated by some groups, we have not seen extraordinary difficulties in getting rides today,” Hosaka said.
TNVS Community Philippines, a group of ride-hailing service drivers and operators, has filed a complaint against the LTFRB before the Ombudsman on Monday for the problematic processing of applications and for banning hatchbacks from serving as part of the TNVS. —Joviland Rita/VDS, GMA News
