AirAsia launches free program for aspiring pilots in PHL
Low-cost airline firm AirAsia on Wednesday launched the AirAsia Cadet Pilot Program that offers free training to aspiring pilots in the Philippines.
"AirAsia has a proud history of having some of the best pilots in the Philippines. Through this program we will develop passionate Allstars and aspiring pilots, both men and women, into being the best," said AirAsia Philippines president and chief executive officer Captain Dexter Comendador.
"We’ve partnered with Omni Aviation, a leading Filipino training provider, to offer ten cadetships in the initial batches and the opportunity to embark on a new career with the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline," he added.
AirAsia will shoulder all the expenses for two years of technical and leadership training for its staff who will be accepted into the program. Non-employees of the airline who would qualify will also be provided with subsidies.
Meanwhile, Omni President and COO Steven Virata assured that all the cadets will receive holistic training to become competent pilots.
Application and qualification requirements will be released soon, according to AirAsia. —Dona Magsino/LDF, GMA News
