Watering your plants is top water-consuming household activity, says Manila Water
“Dilig” or watering garden plants is the top water-consuming household acvtivity that zap Metro Manila’s water supply, according to east zone concessionaire Manila Water Co. Inc. on Friday.
“The number one water consumption user is ‘dilig’. Number one is really pagdidilig—watering the plants,” Manila Water president and CEO Ferdinand dela Cruz said.
“I always advise people na huwag niyong pahahawakin ng telepono ‘yung nagdidilig ng tubig kasi pag napahaba ang usupan tataas ang consumption,” Dela Cruz said.
He qualified the activity to houses with gardens, rather than condo-living.

“Washing cars” is second on the list of top water-consuming activities, according to Manila Water.
“If we can manage dilig and linis-kotse, you’ll be able to manage your consumption,” Dela Cruz noted.
Laundry and hygienic activities, such as taking shower and brushing teeth also consume a lot of water.
Cooking is the least water-consuming household activity, Dela Cruz noted.
Manila Water is the sole provider of water and wastewater services to more than six million people in the East Zone of Metro Manila.
The company’s concession area include Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Pateros, San Juan, Taguig, Marikina, most parts of Quezon City, San Andres and Sta. Ana in Manila, as well as the following cities and towns in Rizal: Angono, Antipolo, Baras, Binangonan, Cainta, Cardona, Jalajala, Morong, Pililia, Rodriguez, San Mateo, Tanay, Taytay, and Teresa. —VDS, GMA News
