Golden Arches Development Corporation (McDonald’s Philippines) and the city government of Pasay on Thursday signed a deal to provide employment to the elderly and persons with disability (PWDs).

Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano and McDonald’s Philippines president and CEO Kenneth Yang signed a memorandum of agreement.

Under the agreement, McDonald’s will open its employment opportunities to 50 senior citizens and PWD employees in 14 participating stores in Pasay City.

“The partnership will provide them the opportunity to earn and develop new skills as they experience the same world class training as an order presenter, drink drawer, table manager or overall guest relations,” McDonald’s Philippines said.

The quick service restaurant has hired close to 100 senior citizens and PWDs since September and has rolled out the alternative employment program in the cities of Manila and Pasig. — Ted Cordero/BM, GMA News
