SSS urges members to remit contributions, pay loans online
The Social Security System (SSS) on Monday urged its members to take advantage of the online payment of their monthly contributions and loans through various available platforms, as part of its digitalization initiative.
Self-employed, voluntary, and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) members may skip queueing in SSS branch transactions and conveniently pay through BancNet online, UnionBank online, and Globe's GCash facility on or before the due date.
“Some SSS members miss their payment deadline of contribution or loan payments due to their busy schedules. Late loan payments incur penalties, while missed monthly contributions affect their eligibility for benefit claims," SSS president and chief executive officer Aurora Ignacio said in a statement.
"We encourage our members to pay their contributions and loans online to avoid these problems and have a safer and more convenient means of settling their obligations with SSS,” she added.
The members are required to first generate their Payment Reference Number (PRN) at the My.SSS website for the real-time processing of contribution payments.
ATM cardholders of participating BancNet banks may pay their contributions and loans free of charge by logging on to BancNet's website.
On the other hand, SSS members who have accounts in the UnionBank may access the online payment option through the SSS Hub found in their bank's website.
Globe and Touch Mobile subscribers may also pay online by downloading the free mobile app GCash.
According to the SSS, out of the 16.4 million paying members for the period of January to September 2019, only 10,078 self-employed, voluntary, and OFW members have used GCash; and 19,641 paid through UnionBank. Over 6,200 employers, on the other hand, paid using BancNet online. —LDF, GMA News
