ING Bank N.V. Philippines is diversifying its all-digital banking platform by offering an in-app payment services in the first half of 2019.

“In 2020, we will have more products ... These will include a payment proposition,” ING Bank Philippines country manager Hans Sicat said in a media roundtable in Taguig City on Thursday.

In November 2018, the Dutch corporate banker entered the consumer banking business through an all-digital savings platform, which currently offers a 4% yearly interest rate.

Sicat said the payment service will be an added feature to ING’s digital banking platform.

Asked if ING is poised competing with mobile wallet apps such as GCash and Paymaya, he said the payments service is simply a part of the bank’s aim to make its app a part of consumers’ “daily banking activities.”

“We just want to make [banking] easy.”

ING is calibrating the payments feature to ensure ease of use and safety before it is launched. —VDS, GMA News
