High-priced Grab fares? Too many bookings, too few cars, says firm

Commuters who regularly use Grab to book car rides are feeling the pinch of the Christmas rush.

According to Oscar Oida's report on "24 Oras", Grab users are also finding it more difficult to book.

"Ang nare-receive po nating bookings per day is around 700 to 800,000 users ang nagta-try mag-book. Ang mga sasakyan po natin sa daan ay 35 to 36,000 lang," Grab country head Bryan Cu said.

The surge in booking prices were due to higher demand and heavy traffic, according to Cu.

"If the base fare goes up and the surge kicks in, talaga po'ng minsan double ang makikita nila. Ang hinihiling ko lang sa ating mga users diyan ay konting patience lang sa pag-book. And if they book, try to book outside of rush hour," Cu said. —Joahna Lei Casilao and Julia Mari Ornedo/NB, GMA News
