Tycoon Ramon S. Ang is the sole Filipino to make it on this year's The Bloomberg 50, a list of the top global innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders across the globe.

The unranked list compiles global leaders in business, finance, technology and science, politics, and entertainment.

"It's a great honor, and I'm grateful to Bloomberg for taking note of our work and the developments here in the Philippines," said Ang.

"I hope this helps to showcase the many great and positive things happening in our country."

Ang was number eight on Forbes' list of the richest people in the Philippines this year.

He currently serves as the president and chief operating officer (COO) of San Miguel Corporation (SMC), which was founded in 1980 as a single brewery.

The company has since transformed into a diversified conglomerate, with businesses in fuel and oil, energy, infrastructure, and real estate industries.

Its subsidiaries include San Miguel Brewery Inc., Ginebra San Miguel Inc., San Miguel Food and Beverage Inc., SMC Global Power Holdings Corp., SEA Refinery Corp., San Miguel Holdings Corp., and San Miguel Properties Inc.

Under Ang's leadership, SMC has undertaken infrastructure projects such as Skyway Stage 3 connecting the South Luzon Expressway to the Northern Luzon Expressway; and Skyway Stage 4 which connects Paranaque City to the Batasan Complex in Quezon City.

Other individuals included in this year's list are Shopify CEO Tobias Lutke, GlaxoSmithKline CEO Emma Walmsley, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon, and Kylie Cosmetics CEO Kylie Jenner. — BM, GMA News
