Globe provides free internet, calls, charging in Taal affected areas


Select areas affected by Taal Volcano's unrest had been equipped with free internet connection spots, call stations, and charging areas, Globe Telecom Inc. announced Monday.

In a statement, Globe said it was providing free and unlimited GoWiFi internet connections in all four terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and select malls in Laguna, Cavite, and Batangas.

Globe said the initiative was to "give those affected by the ongoing Taal Volcano explosion an opportunity to communicate with their family and friends."

The company would also set up a free call and charging station at the covered court of Barangay Amuyong along the Tagaytay Nasugbu Road in Alfonso, Cavite from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting January 13 to January 16.

Free GoWiFi connections were available in the following areas:

NAIA

  • Terminals 1-4

BATANGAS

  • Robinson’s Place Lipa

LAGUNA

  • Pavilion Mall
  • Solenad 1,2,3
  • Southwoods Mall
  • Robinson’s Sta. Rosa
  • Robinson’s Place San Pedro
  • Robinson’s Los Banos

CAVITE

  • The District - Dasmarinas
  • The District - Imus
  • Ayala Malls Serin - Tagaytay
  • Robinsons Tagaytay
  • Robinson’s Place Dasmarinas
  • Robinson’s General Trias
  • Robinson’s Imus

Globe has also set up Libreng Tawag and Charging Stations, which would operate until January 16, in the following areas:

CAVITE

  • Barangay Amuyong Covered Court, Tagaytay Nasugbu Road, Alfonso - 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Bagong Tubig Barangay Hall, Tagaytay City - 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Barangay Kaybagal, South Old Rehab Center, Tagaytay City, Cavite - 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Luksuhin National HS, Barangay Luksuhin, Alfonso, Cavite - 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

BATANGAS

  • Sto Tomas City Evacuation Center, Poblacion 3, Sto Tomas, Batangas

"In incidents like these, staying indoors is always the best option," said Janis Racpan, Globe Director for WiFi Business Group.
