Private vehicles carrying Taal relief goods to get free pass at SLEx, STAR

Private motorists carrying relief goods to victims of Taal Volcano's eruption will get free single exit pass at South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) and Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR).

In a tweet, SMC Tollways detailed how private vehicles can be granted a free single exit pass.

"This is part of our wide-ranging efforts across the San Miguel Group to help our countrymen, through our own relief operations, and by supporting and enabling others who also want to help," said SMC president Ramon S. Ang.

"Yet again, we are seeing the best of Filipinos—helping and lifting each other up in times of great need," he added.

Motorists should stop at the following locations to get the free pass:

SLEx Southbound locations

  • Petron Silanga/KM 44
  • Mayapa Entry
  • Batino Entry
  • Calamba/Real Entry

STAR Southbound locations

  • Sto. Tomas Entry

STAR Northbound locations

  • Batangas Entry
  • Ibaan Entry
  • Lipa Entry
  • Toribio Entry
  • Malvar Entry
  • Tanauan Entry

A toll supervisor will inspect the vehicle carrying relief goods and then issue free single exit pass.

"Private vehicles must then proceed to their destination and hand over the free single exit pass at cash lanes only," SMC Tollways said.

In its situational report, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said 22,472 families or 96,061 people have been affected so far in Batangas, Laguna and Cavite by Taal Volcano's activity.

Of this number, 16,174 families or 70,413 people are staying temporarily in 300 evacuation centers. — with Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/RSJ, GMA News
