Cebu Pacific 60 to 70% done with contact tracing of nCoV cases’ co-passengers

Contact tracing for some 200 passengers who were on board the same flight as the Philippines’ two confirmed cases of 2019 novel coronavirus acute respiratory disease is now to 60 to 70 percent complete, Cebu Pacific said Monday.

According to a Balitanghali report by Ivan Mayrina, the crew members of the said flights are undergoing a 14-day quarantine as a precautionary measure against the outbreak.

So far, none of the crew members have developed any symptoms related to nCoV.

The country’s two confirmed cases of the virus flew from Hong Kong to Cebu on January 21 aboard Flight 5J 241, and from Cebu to Dumaguete on the same date through Flight DG 6519.

Earlier on Monday, the Department of Health said eight people who came in contact with the infected couple have developed cough and colds. —Julia Mari Ornedo/NB, GMA News
