St. Luke's to build flagship hospital in Aseana City
St. Luke's Medical Center is set to build a new flagship hospital in Aseana City in Paranaque, as it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to lease out a significant land area from D.M. Wenceslao & Associates Incorporated (DMW).
In a statement on Monday, DMW said the 50-year agreement involves the lease of a 13,896 sq. m parcel of land in Aseana City.
"We see a compelling opportunity for St. Luke's Medical Center to expand and scale operations to respond to our customers' needs," Dr. Arturo De La Peña, president and chief executive officer of St. Luke’s Medical Center, said.
"Aseana City not only offers the right location to capture the robust healthcare growth in the country and South East Asia, it also takes a holistic approach throughout its master plan, while setting standards for sustainability," he elaborated.
Through its two facilities in Quezon City and Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, St. Luke's currently has some 1,146 rooms with 60,321 average in-patient admissions and 2.7 million outpatient consultations annually.
According to De La Peña, its expansion in Aseana will bank on access to terminals to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and the "growing population" of Metro Manila.
"We look forward to continue delivering high-quality, patient-centered care for all our hospital patients and to contribute to improved health outcomes through advanced technology," he said.
Aseana City is owned and developed by DMW, with a total land area of 107.5 hectares along the coastal waters of Manila Bay.
"We are thrilled that St. Luke’s Medical Center has chosen Aseana City for its flagship hospital in the Manila Bay area," Delfin Angelo “Buds” C. Wenceslao, chief executive officer of DMW, said.
"The signing of this agreement with the country’s leading healthcare institution achieves another important milestone towards the development of Aseana City. It will accelerate our ability to deliver a complete community in our next generation city development," he added. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/Ted Cordero/LDF, GMA News
