AirAsia offers 30% off its airfares
Budget carrier AirAsia on Friday announced it will offer 30% discount on all its seats and flights.
In a statement, AirAsia said its discounted airfares is in support of the Department of Tourism’s aim to boost domestic tourism amid the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in China.
To avail the discounted airfares, passengers shall book until February 23 for travel period between February 24 and September 30.
AirAsia is also offering 22% discount on baggage.
Baggage discounts are only applicable at the time of booking a flight during the promotional period, the carrier said.
“We are pleased to provide great deals to our guests, especially those flying to our domestic destinations. We are committed to making travel more affordable and accessible to all, and have been working closely with Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat to achieve this,” AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla said.
“We hope that guests take advantage of our promotional fares and explore the options available when booking, such as discounted baggage, hotels, and activities for their future getaways,” Isla said.
The announcement came after tourism industry stakeholders met with President Rodrigo Duterte and agreed to lower airfare and hotel rates.
The measures are aims at countering the negative effects of COVID-19 and to promote domestic tourism among locals.
Budget carrier Cebu Pacific had earlier announced a similar reduction in fares. —Ted Cordero/KBK, GMA News
