CAB directs airlines to implement travel restrictions to South Korea


The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) on Friday directed all airlines in the country to immediately implement travel restrictions to South Korea amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The advisory was issused based on the travel advisory posted by the Department of Health through a resolution of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

The CAB said the restrictions covered travel from the Philippines to South Korea and travel from North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, including Daegu City and Cheongdo Country, to the Philippines.

The exemptions are:

  • Permanent residents of South Korea, Filipinos leaving for study, and overseas Filipino workers provided  they sign a written declaration acknowledging the risks that will be complimented with a health advisory
  • Filipinos and their foreign spouses or children, and permanent residents and diplomatic-visa holders traveling from South Korea will be allowed entry to the Philippines subject to screening and quarantine protocols.
