PAL waives rebooking, refunding fees for canceled flights from, to NAIA
Flag carrier Philippine Airlines has waived fees for passengers who wish to rebook or refund their flights to and from Metro Manila after the Philippine government placed the national capital under community quarantine to control the spread of COVID-19.
PAL’s move is in line with the “directive of the Philippine government cancelling domestic air travel to and from Manila from March 15 to April 14 to protect the citizenry from COVID-19,” spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said.
Also, PAL said that passengers of affected flights within the said period may avail of any of the following options:
- Rebook their flight to a new travel date after April 14, 2020, with waivers of rebooking fees
- Refund the full cost of the ticket with waivers of refund fees
- Reroute their ticket on the same fare class; fare difference rules apply
“(A total of) 65 domestic round trip flights daily between Manila and domestic outlying stations will be affected,” Villaluna added.
For holders of tickets issued by PAL, they may call reservations hotline (+63 2) 8855 8888, or visit the nearest PAL ticketing office or log on to the ManageMyBookingPortal at www.philippineairlines.com for flight rebooking.
For holders of tickets issued by travel agents, passengers were advised to contact or visit the nearest partner travel agency of PAL for their rebooking needs.
“Our international flights and domestic flights on routes to and from Cebu, Clark and Davao (other than Manila) shall continue to operate within the period March 15 to April 14,” PAL said.
Land, domestic air, and domestic sea travel to and from Metro Manila shall be suspended beginning March 15, 2020 and ending on April 14, 2020, subject to the daily review of the Inter-Agency Task Force, President Rodrigo Duterte said in a televised address on Thursday night.
“This is a developing situation. We shall provide further updates. As of this time, we are awaiting the official guidelines in relation to the implementation of this temporary suspension of domestic flights to/from Manila,” PAL said.
“Rest assured that we will comply with all government mandates and continue to coordinate closely with the government authorities in the interest of the health and safety of all our passengers,” it said. —LBG, GMA News
