Medicard covers healthcare services for COVID-19

Health maintenance organization MediCard Philippines, Inc. on Friday said that members who will be affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are covered by their services.

“This is to assure our members that MediCard is ready and will cover its members who will seek COVID-19 consult and cared in any of our accredited clinics and hospitals,” the HMO said in a Facebook post.

“Rest assured that during this time of uncertainty, we work hard to continuously deliver quality and timely assistance to everyone,” it said.

It said it will issue coverage guidelines on the matter later.

The Philippines has so far 52 confirmed cases, including five deaths, as of Thursday, according to the Department of Health.

On Thursday night, President Rodrigo Duterte addressed the nation and raised Code Red Sub-Level 2 due to COVID-19. He also ordered the restriction of travel to and from Metro Manila starting March 15 until April 14 as part of community quarantine  to contain the spread of COVID-19.—AOL, GMA News
