Grab: Drivers from provinces can still enter Metro Manila amid quarantine
Drivers of Grab Philippines who live outside Metro Manila will be allowed to enter the metropolis as long as they provide the necessary identification, the company said Sunday.
According Grab Philippines country manager Brian Cu, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) cleared Grab drivers to enter Metro Manila.
"As of yesterday, nakausap namin ang LTFRB, as long as may Grab ID kayo, puwede kayong pumasok sa NCR," he said in a Facebook live video.
President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered a community quarantine of Metro Manila from March 15 to April 14.
During the quarantine period, travel to and from Metro Manila will be restricted. Other provinces such as Cebu and Batangas have implemented similar measures.
Cu said that Grab drivers who currently do not have IDs will have to check their emails and have their virtual identification cards printed out.
Meanwhile, those who did not receive any virtual IDs on their emails will have to fill up a form and submit it to the company.
"Mananatili tayo sa Grab. We will remain committed to our service to the riding public, to the eating public, at sa ating mga riders," said Cu.
Just last week, Grab announced the suspension of its GrabShare service amid the threat brought about by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). —Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/JST, GMA News
