SM malls to waive rent amid COVID-19 enhanced community quarantine

Sy-led SM Supermalls on Wednesday said it would waive the payment of mall rent while an enhanced community quarantine is placed over Luzon.

In an advisory, SM Supermalls said it will waive rentals to all tenants nationwide from March 16, 2020 to April 14, 2020.

"This is to offer tenants some relief during this trying time, so that they can in turn lend more assistance to their employees during the period of community quarantine," the company said.

SM Supermalls has closed its malls starting March 16, following the implementation of a community quarantine over the National Capital Region.

From 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, the entirety of Luzon was placed on enhanced community quarantine until April 12, 2020, restricting travel within the region in efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. -NB, GMA News
