BDO warns clients vs. scammers using COVID-19 quarantine to steal bank details

Banco de Oro (BDO) Unibank Inc. has warned its customers against schemers taking advantage of the loan payment extension it has given in light of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

“Beware of scammers asking for your account details and OTP (one-time password), pretending to be from BDO and offering a 60-day loan payment extension,” the bank said in a text message sent to its customers.

“BDO will NEVER ask for these details,” it said.

The Sy-led lender, along with other banks, has earlier announced an extension on payments for various consumer loan products.

BDO has given a 60-day payment to qualified credit card, auto, home, SME, and personal loan customers with due dates of up to April 15, 2020. -MDM, GMA News
