P&G Philippines to produce face masks to help in COVID-19 fight
Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines on Tuesday announced that its manufacturing plant in Cabuyao, Laguna will produce face masks as part of efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19.
In a statement, P&G said the Cabuyao plant will be one of the company’s manufacturing sites globally which will produce face masks.
The company said the face masks will not be available for sale, but will be for donation and for use of their employees.
The effort aligns with its company principle of “always doing the right thing” by providing resources freely to help address this critical need, according to P&G.
P&G earlier donated P100 million worth of products to hospitals and frontliners, employee job safety and security assistance, and aid that it has extended to business partners.
Through this investment, P&G said it aims to address the growing need for face masks, which is timely given the recent Inter-Agency Task Force’s announcement requiring citizens to wear face masks upon leaving their homes.
P&G said it will collaborate closely with the Department of Health and Department of Trade and the Board of Investments to help hospitals and communities nationwide where there is an unprecedented need for protective supplies to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
“P&G is committed to helping the Philippines fight the spread of COVID-19. We will be investing in additional equipment for the plant to manufacture face masks for donations which will be routed through the DOH and used to help protect our employees as they work to produce critically important cleaning, health and hygiene products for the nation,” Raffy Fajardo, P&G Philippines president and general manager, said.
“Hopefully these masks, along with the thousands of hygiene kits we are donating to several COVID hospitals and frontliners, will play a big part in helping frontliners in the fight against COVID-19,” Fajardo said. — Ted Cordero/RSJ, GMA News
