Unilab to donate as much as P1B to efforts against COVID-19


Philippine pharmaceutical firm Unilab Inc. on Thursday said it projects to release as much as P1 billion worth of donations towards efforts against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In an emailed statement, the Campos Hess-led firm said it has already released some P665 million, "with the amount seen to surge to a billion pesos in the next few weeks."

Majority of the donations made were in form of essential medicines and vitamins worth P317 million, followed by personal protective equipment (PPE) sets worth P192 million, and support for Project Ugnayan worth P50 million.

Project Ugnayan—a collaboration of business groups in cooperation with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PRDF)—earlier pledged P1.5 billion to finance grocery vouchers to be handed out to over a million households in Metro Manila.

Unilab said it has also donated P50 million worth of COVID-19 test kits support; P45 million worth of alcohol, hygiene, and basic protective kits; and P11 million worth of ventilators.

"Makakaasa kayong hindi kami titigil sa paghatid ng tulong sa sambayanang Pilipino, at patuloy naming ibabahagi ang impormasyon tungkol dito. Sama-sama nating labanan ang panganib na dulot ng COVID-19," it said. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
