PAL warns against online scams claiming fake promo fares
Philippine Airlines (PAL) on Sunday warned the public against fake sites online offering old promotional fares of the carrier.
In an advisory, PAL cautioned the public from giving away bank information on social media channels, as it said tickets are only sold via online booking on its official website www.philippineairlines.com, PAL ticket offices, and authorized travel agencies.
"We warn the public against logging on and engaging with these sites as doing so will compromise or breach the privacy of your personal data," it said.
The advisory was made after websites made use of old PAL offerings claiming that tickets were available as low as P80 for one-way domestic fares, and 80% off on economy base fares of international flights.
"The aim is to lure and mislead the public into thinking that the site is legitimate. The site asks for personal information, including bank details," it said.
"Vigilance is essential in ensuring that you do not fall prey to these bogus ads," added PAL.
Moving forward, PAL said it only uses its official social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter as avenues for its digital advertisements and announcements. The matter has also been reported to authorities. — LA, GMA News
