San Miguel Corp. donates high flow nasal cannula to national task force vs. COVID-19

San Miguel Corporation has donated a total of 45 AIRVO 2 high flow nasal cannula to the National Task Force COVID-19 to aid in the government's effort in curbing the pandemic.

According to SMC Vice President for Corporate Affairs Kin Lichauco, the corporation is hoping that the public hospital health system will benefit from the donation.

The said equipment is used for supplemental oxygen therapy to people experiencing respiratory distress.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana thanked SMC president Ramon Ang for the continuous assistance it provides to the national government in the fight against COVID-19.

"Kami'y nagpapasalamat sa kaniya, hindi lang dito kung hindi sa mga nakaraang donasyon niya," Lorenzana said in a press statement.

San Miguel previously donated personal protective equipment, food items, and fuel for shuttle services of frontliners. On June 3, the company also provided high flow nasal cannula to Philippine General Hospital.

The Office of Civil Defense will coordinate with the Department of Health for the dispatch of nasal high flow machines to various hospitals.

The OCD said the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Visayas is set to receive some HFNC machines. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
