MoneyGram waives money transfer fees to BPI accounts in certain countries
The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and American money transfer firm MoneyGram have partnered to waive fees for money sent to the bank’s account holders in select countries, in a bid to ease the burden of COVID-19 pandemic on overseas Filipino workers.
In a statement, the Ayala-led bank said MoneyGram waived fees for money transfers from the US, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Spain to BPI or BPI Family Savings Bank accounts done through MoneyGram Online and mobile app.
“Our tie-up with MoneyGram provides valuable service during this challenging situation brought about by COVID-19,” said Melinda Dulay, head of BPI Inward Remittance.
Meanwhile, MoneyGram Online users in Austria, Belgium, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Slovakia can enjoy a flat rate of €1.99 when making direct bank transfers to BPI accounts.
“This partnership enables millions of consumers in the Philippines to quickly and easily receive money directly into their bank accounts,” MoneyGram chief operating officer Kamila Chytil said. — Ted Cordero/BM, GMA News
