Amway Philippines reports 130% growth in sign-ups in Q2
Amway Philippines on Tuesday reported a 130% growth in new sign-ups during the second quarter of the year, as Filipinos turned to e-commerce while strict quarantines were in place.
At a virtual briefing, the company said Amway Business Owners (ABO) sign-ups increased from April to June this year, as more Filipinos chose to augment their income during the period.
"Despite the many changes that we've experienced in the past six months, the core of any business, regardless of industry, remains to be creating personalized experiences for customers," said Amway Philippines country manager Leni Olmedo.
According to Olmedo, the number of ABOs purchasing products online grew by as much as 70% during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period.
With the rise of digital transactions, Olmedo said the company is set to launch its Exclusive Shopper program next month, where customers can directly purchase products online.
"While we've taken great strides on digitizing our operations with our ABOs, we knew it was about time for us to redefine the direct selling model," said Olmedo.
"However, unlike many e-commerce platforms, each order will be fulfilled through an assigned ABO so customers can still benefit from personalized service whether or not they opt to directly engage with the ABO," she added.
Moving forward, Amway Philippines said it aims to increase ABOs by 10% this year from 80,000 in 2019.
"There’s no secret to our performance. It’s all a matter of carrying a relevant portfolio of pure, safe and effective products that people will need for them to be able to do more despite the lockdown," said Olmedo.
To recall, the strictest quarantine measures under the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) were in place Metro Manila and other "high-risk" areas from March 17 to May 15, followed by a modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until May 31. -MDM, GMA News
