Pru Life UK launches new investment fund that tracks PSEi

British insurer Pru Life UK on Wednesday launched a new investment fund offering that leverages on the constituent stocks in the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi).

At a virtual press conference, Pru Life UK introduced the PRULink Equity Index Tracker Fund, its latest addition to its portfolio of investment-linked funds offering.

The new investment product aims to provide long-term capital growth by investing in stocks under the PSEi.

“We want our customers to have more choices on how to grow their money. The new fund will now be included in the selection of PRULink funds they can invest in when they purchase an insuravest plan,” Pru Life UK president and CEO Antonio de Rosas said.

As an index tracker, De Rosas explained the new investment fund seeks to replicate the performance of the PSEi, the benchmark of the local stock market.

Through the fund, clients get to invest in the country’s 30 largest companies by market capitalization and the most actively traded stocks on the Philippine Stock Exchange.

“We have seen growing interest in equity investing among Filipinos, particularly the younger generation. The PRULink Equity Index Tracker Fund, which invests in stocks that are representative of the whole Philippine equity market, provides investors with a good starting point,” De Rosas said.

“More importantly, since this product primarily comes with life insurance, it will give our customers the opportunity to build a stable investment portfolio that offers potential for long-term growth,” he said.

Existing policyholders may opt to top-up, redirect their premiums, or switch to the new fund starting this month.

The fund is managed by Pru Life UK Investments, a subsidiary of Pru Life UK incorporated in 2018. -MDM, GMA News
