TO START ON SEPT. 26

Emergency maintenance will no longer affect SKYFiber, SKYCable services

SKY Cable Corporation on Friday said the emergency  maintenance of an international cable system will no longer affect its services as it activated a back-up capacity.

In an advisory, SKY said that the scheduled emergency maintenance activity of the Asia-America Gateway (AAG) is moved to Saturday, September 26 and will last until Wednesday, September 30.

SKY earlier said that the maintenance works will begin on September 25, like PLDT earlier announced. The Pangilinan-led telco, however, issued an update, saying it will start on Saturday instead of Friday.

SKY also said that the activity will result in slow connection affecting social media and internet browsing and video streaming services.

In its updated advisory, SKY said that it has already completed the activation of its back-up capacity to offset any adverse effects of the AAG emergency maintenance activity on subscribers’ internet service.

As a result, it said that the AAG activity will not be affecting SKYFiber and SKYCable subscribers.

“We stay committed to serve you especially at this time when connectivity is most essential for your work or learning needs at home,” SKY said. —Ted Cordero/KBK, GMA News
