Globe services in Luzon disrupted as Rolly causes multiple fiber cuts

Subscribers of Globe Telecom Inc. in several parts of Luzon can expect difficulties in availing services, as the Ayala-led company on Sunday said multiple fiber cuts were sustained due to the strong winds from Typhoon Rolly.

In an advisory, Globe said subscribers in Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, Masbate, Sorsogon, Quezon, and Laguna can expect difficulties in making calls, sending SMS, or using mobile data.

"Rest assured that our Globe technical teams are addressing the issue to bring our services back to normal as soon as possible," the advisory read.

Globe in September said it was embarking on its "largest network update to date," as it laid out a three-pronged strategy aimed at improving connectivity by 2021.

The telco earlier allocated P50.3 billion for its capital spending this year, mainly to support the roll-out of high-speed mobile technology and further expansion of its LTE network coverage nationwide.
