Cebu Pacific cancels Japan flights amid 1,500 int’l passengers/day cap at NAIA
Budget carrier Cebu Pacific on Wednesday announced it will be cancelling flights to and from Japan in compliance with the latest government directive limiting the number of inbound international passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
In an advisory, Cebu Pacific said it will cancelling the following flights from March 18 to April 18, 2021:
• Manila – Narita (Tokyo) – Manila
• Manila – Nagoya – Manila
The flights cancellations were due to the Civil Aeronautics Board’s (CAB) order to limit the international inbound arrivals at the NAIA to a maximum of 1,500 passengers per day beginning 8 a.m. of March 18 until 8 a.m. of April 18, in a bid to prevent the spread of new COVID-19 variants in the Philippines.
“Affected passengers will be informed via contact details provided in the booking. Guests may select their preferred option through the Manage Booking portal on the Cebu Pacific website within 30 days from date of departure,” the airline said.
Cebu Pacific said affected passengers may rebook for travel within 90 days without any additional cost with fare difference waived or store the ticket amount in a virtual wallet valid for two years and use this to either book a new flight or pay for add-ons.
Affected passengers may also request for refund, but “due to the unprecedented volume of requests, the process will take as long as seven months.”
“Passengers who wish to voluntarily postpone their trips may conveniently rebook their flights up to two hours before their scheduled time of departure, following CEB’s permanent removal of change fees. A minimal fare difference may apply,” it said.
Cebu Pacific said it will continue to operate its domestic flights as scheduled.?
