Globe Telecom Inc. will temporarily close nine stores but will keep 57 stores open in NCR Plus while the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) is set in place in the area.

In an advisory issued Monday, Globe said the store closures are in line with the ECQ imposed in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna from March 29, 2021 to April 04, 2021.

The following stores will be closed during the period:

North GMA

  • Fishermall, Quezon City
  • SM City Masinag, Antipolo City
  • Valenzuela Town Center, Valenzuela City

South GMA

  • Cash & Carry, Makati
  • Market Market, Taguig
  • Shangri-la Plaza, Mandaluyong City

The company counts as subsidiaries Innove Communications Inc., GTI Business Holdings Inc., Kickstart Ventures Inc., Asticom Technology Inc., Globe Capital Venture Holdings Inc., Bayan Telecommunications Inc., TaoDharma Inc., GTowers Inc., Yondu Inc., and Electronic Commerce Payments Inc.

Rival PLDT Inc. and its mobile subsidiary Smart Communications Inc. earlier said it will suspend operations of physical stores in NCR Plus while the ECQ is in place.

Metro Manila and nearby provinces -- collectively tagged as NCR Plus -- are under ECQ starting midnight March 29 until Sunday, April 4, 2021. No guidance has been given what follows.

Prior to the announcement of the ECQ, the government banned the non-essential entry and exit into the NCR Plus bubble during the same period. The bubble covers Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/RSJ, GMA News
