SSS members can now apply for salary loans through mobile app
The Social Security System (SSS) on Wednesday unveiled new features of its mobile application, which now allows members to check their contribution updates and apply for salary loans.
According to SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora Ignacio, the new features under the SSS Mobile App version 4.0 were introduced in efforts to ease navigation and make presentations to users effortless.
“It magnifies our commitment to better serve mobile app users by continuously incorporating the latest in mobile technology,” she said in an emailed statement.
The new features include a redesigned dashboard which allows enrolled members to check contributions, apply for and check the status of salary loans, view benefit claims, and contribution payment services.
The application also introduced a branch locator feature where users can search for an SSS branch closest to them, linked to Google Maps and Petal Maps.
For employers, the application will provide them with information about their contributions, and loan payments and reimbursement claims among others.
The mobile application was first introduced in 2018 and was initially available in the Google Play Store and the Apple Store. It was made available in the Huawei AppGallery in 2019.
The latest update was available in Huawei AppGallery on May 30, and in Google Play the following day. Talks are ongoing with Apple for the iOS devices.
Total cumulative downloads for the mobile application hit 15.359 million as of May 30, with an average of 85,000 transactions daily.
The SSS is mandated to promote social justice and provide protection to members and families against the hazards of disability, sickness, maternity, old age, death, and other contingencies resulting in loss of income or financial burden. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/KG, GMA News
