Meralco suspends disconnection activities in Cavite, Rizal, Lucena City

Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) on Friday announced the suspension of disconnection activities in several areas under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

“In light of the government’s announcement on Thursday night that placed Cavite, Rizal and Lucena City under MECQ beginning August 6 to 15, Meralco will also suspend disconnection activities in these areas from August 6 to 15,” the power distributor said in an advisory.

Meralco earlier suspended disconnection activities in the National Capital Region from August 6 to 20, during the ECQ period.

It also suspended disconnection activities in Laguna from August 1 to 15 due to the implementation of MECQ in the province.

“For customers in areas under GCQ, Meralco will continue to be very considerate during this period and vowed to assist customers with their concerns,” the company said.

“Meralco will continue vital operations such as meter reading, bill delivery, and will continue work around the clock to serve its customers, following an order of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC),” it added.

Apart from Metro Manila and Laguna, which is under ECQ from August 6 to 20, the province of Cagayan de Oro as well as Iloilo City have been placed under ECQ from August 6 to 15

Cavite, Lucena City, Rizal and Iloilo Province have been placed under MECQ during the same period.

Batangas and Quezon, on the other hand, are under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions from August 6 to 15.
