Vince Dizon resigns as BCDA president, will stay in Duterte's Cabinet

Testing czar Vivencio "Vince" Dizon has resigned from his post as president of the Bases and Conversion Development Authority (BCDA).

During the Senate's deliberation on Monday on the proposed P6.487-billion budget of the BCDA for 2022, Senator Sonny Angara asked if Dizon already quit from his position.

In response, BCDA executive vice president Aileen Zosa confirmed Dizon's resignation which was effective last October 15.

"The resignation letter of President Vince Dizon to the President has an effectivity date [of] October 15," Zosa said.

Angara also asked if Dizon's resignation had been accepted or if it was irrevocable, to which Zosa answered in the affirmative.

She said Dizon would continue to be part of the national government's team addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This is correct. I think this is an irrevocable resignation but he will stay in the Cabinet for the anti-COVID efforts of the government," Zosa said.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the company said BCDA director Aristotle B. Batuhan has been appointed Officer-in-Charge as Dizon will focus on being Presidential Adviser for COVID-19 Response.

BCDA said the company earned P48 billion in gross revenues during Dizon's term, representing almost 40% of total revenues in the last 27 years.

A total of P34.2 billion was remitted to the Armed Forces of the Philippines during Dizon's term as part of the company's mandate to help strengthen the military while building cities.

Among the infrastructure realized during Dizon's term are New Clark City Phase 1A and the Clark International Airport New Passenger Terminal Building, the BCDA said. —KG, GMA News
