CAVITEX to increase toll rates on May 12

Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC), the concessionaire for the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX) along with its joint venture partner Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), on Tuesday announced the increase in its toll rates beginning Thursday, May 12, 2022.

In a statement, CIC said the Toll Regulatory Board approved its 2011 and 2014 contractual tariff adjustments toll petitions as well as its add-on toll petition for Phases 1 and 2 enhancement works done in CAVITEX R-1 Expressway which was completed in 2020.

“The approved petitions translate to P4.62 VAT-exclusive rate per kilometer for Class 1 vehicles; P9.24 for Class 2; and P13.86 for Class 3 vehicles traversing the 6.48-kilometers R-1 Expressway (from CAVITEX Longos, Bacoor entry to MIA exit, and vice versa) beginning 12:00 a.m. of May 12,” the company said.

Under the new toll matrix, motorists shall pay P33.00 for Class 1 vehicles from the current P25.00; P67.00 for Class 2 from P50.00; and P100.00 for Class 3 from P75.00.

On the enhancements done on the CAVITEX R-1 Expressway, CIC said that it has completed the asphalt overlay along the entire stretch of CAVITEX, provision of the Pacific flyover and left turn facility, bridge widenings, and its regular heavy maintenance works “to ensure road quality and safeness for the motorists, among others, which is currently being enjoyed by the 160,000 average daily motorists of CAVITEX.”

“To help public utility vehicle (PUV) operators and drivers cope with the change, CIC and JV partner PRA will be providing them toll rate reprieve through a rebate program that will allow them to continue enjoying the old rates for the next three months,” the company said. — RSJ, GMA News
