9 MRT-3 engineers, technicians attend specialized training in Japan
At least nine engineers and technical personnel of the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) participated in the specialized training on railway operation and maintenance in Japan, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Tuesday.
In a statement, the DOTr said the August 29 to September 3 training was part of the technology transfer of the MRT-3 Rehabilitation Project.
The project aims to develop new skills and knowledge of personnel from the DOTr assigned to the railways.
According to MRT-3 General Manager Engr. Federico Canar Jr., the training aligns with the MRT-3’s thrust of ensuring its personnel are equipped and kept abreast with the latest technological advances in railway operations.
“We understand the crucial role of skills development training in our line of work. It is essential so as we can continuously upgrade our services, and better meet the needs of the riding public,” Canlas added.
The DOTr said the training consisted of workshops on disaster management, station management control, light and heavy maintenance, and railway safety operations, among others.
The MRT-3 trainees were also allowed to witness and explore firsthand some of the most innovative railway technologies in Japan, like barrier-free accessibility transport facilities and train driving simulators.
Overall, the training provided the trainees with enhanced knowledge and hands-on experience on the railway transport system in Japan to facilitate cross-country learning and knowledge transfer, the DOTr said. — DVM, GMA News
