PAL to resume Cebu-Bangkok flights in December

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is set to relaunch its three-hour flights between Cebu and Bangkok, Thailand in December after the routes were stopped in March 2020.

In an advisory released Thursday, PAL said operations will resume on December 9, with flights leaving Mactan-Cebu International Airport at 9:30 a.m. every Monday and Friday.

The return flights will leave Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport at 1:30 p.m. every Monday and Friday, with the route using a 199-seater Airbus A321ceo aircraft.

PAL operated flights between Cebu and Bangkok from December 2017 to March 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

“Our Bangkok-Cebu flights give us the opportunity to grow the Philippines-Thailand passenger market, using our Cebu regional hub to boost tourism and economic development,” PAL president and COO Stanley K. Ng said.

“We are happy to offer travelers a choice of nonstop links to the major markets in Asia and beyond, now that more countries are reopening their borders and easing travel restrictions in time for the holiday travel season,” he added.

After overcoming financial challenges last year due to the pandemic, PAL expressed optimism in March that it would emerge stronger in 2022 as it unveiled plans for network expansion, digital innovation, and a more cargo-driven strategy. — VBL, GMA News
