MOVE IT aims to expand user base to one million by end-2023

Grab-led motorcycle taxi firm MOVE IT seeks to expand its user base to one million by the end of this year, banking on its recently revamped mobile application.

At a press conference in Pasig City on Tuesday, MOVE IT general manager Wayne Jacinto expressed optimism that the company will hit its target.

“Right now, ballpark, we have hundreds of thousands of users. For this year, we target [hitting] one million users,” Jacinto said.

“The reason for this optimism is that we want to have a higher standard. We are positive about this because of the new app’s features and reliability,” he added.

During the media event, MOVE IT unveiled the upgraded version of its mobile app, which guarantees a 99.95% uptime, ensuring an unhampered booking experience, especially during peak hours.

The upgraded app also has enhanced safety features, including an in-app VOIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol calling feature that allows voice calls using the internet instead of a regular mobile phone network, a Share-My-Ride feature, and a 24/7 Safety Center that provides round-the-clock emergency assistance.

MOVE IT also introduced cashless payment options, including debit and credit cards.

“Our enhanced app is a timely response to the evolving needs of passengers and rider-partners. Through our enhanced app, our rider-partners will benefit from improved efficiency, enabling them to earn more, while our passengers will enjoy a user-friendly and more intuitive interface, ensuring seamless and convenient motorcycle taxi experiences,” Jacinto said.

MOVE IT also aims to onboard informal or “habal-habal” riders into their system in a bid to “professionalize” the industry, he said.

He said MOVE IT is conducting onboarding campaigns to maximize its current supply allocation of 15,000 riders.

"We are firmly advocating to professionalize the motorcycle taxi industry, and that extends to the habal-habal riders as well. Our vision is to create a safe, professionalized, and empowering environment where all our rider-partners, including habal-habal riders, can thrive,” Jacinto said.  — VBL, GMA Integrated News
