Pag-IBIG released P45B in housing loans as of May - official

State-run Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund) said on Friday it had released P45 billion worth of housing loans from January to May this year.

"Ang Pag-IBIG Fund so far, as of May this year ay nakapagpahiram na ng mahigit na P45 billion in housing loans sa ating mga miyembro at ito po ay kasama ng ating mga efforts para po tulungan ang ating Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development under po sa Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Program," Pag-IBIG department manager for public media affairs Jack Jacinto said at the public briefing.

(As of May this year, Pag-IBIG has already released more than P45 billion for the housing loans of our members. This is part of our efforts to help the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Program.)

Meanwhile, a total of P15.82 billion in cash loans was released to 720,000 members from January to April.

"At ito po ay nakatulong po sa ating mga kababayan, sa ating mga miyembro sa kanilang mga gastusin,'' Jacinto said.

(The cash loans were able to help members cover their expenses.)

Calamity loans were also offered to members affected by Mayon Volcano's unrest in Albay, he said.

Jacinto said that about 1.4 million overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) actively contribute to the Pag-IBIG Fund, while the total membership climbed to 15.4 million as of May 2023. —Sherylin Untalan/VBL, GMA Integrated News
