MORE Power: Iloilo City power interruptions reduced by 90%

Razon-led MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power), the power distribution utility in Iloilo City, on Monday said power interruptions had decreased by 90% in the area due to the firm's modernization efforts.

In a press release, MORE Power president Roel Castro said since the firm took over the power supply in Iloilo City, it had invested P1.5 billion for the modernization of the power distribution facilities.

“More power has invested over a billion pesos to deliver on its commitment to bring about welcome changes in the electric service in terms of efficiency, sufficiency and reliability,” Castro said, noting that due to modernization, the electricity bill in Iloilo City is one of the lowest in the Philippines.

MORE Power started its operation in 2020. Its five-year development plan for improving power services in Iloilo City was almost complete.

Meanwhile, overloading and illegal connections have also been avoided, which resulted in a decrease in system loss that is passed on to consumers.

Senator Grace Poe, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Public Services, hailed MORE Power for its role in improving the power services and preventing frequent brownouts.

"Kung mas malaki ang capitalization ng private sector at meron silang responsibilidad sa kanilang mga shareholders, mas maayos ang serbisyo nila. Doon sa Iloilo City, nang ma-approve ang franchise ng MORE Power, mas naging maayos ang serbisyo,” Poe said in the press release.
