Metrobank shuts select branches in Northern Luzon due to Egay


Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) branches in Northern Luzon will be closed or have shortened banking hours on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, due to the inclement weather conditions brought by Typhoon Egay.

In an advisory, Metrobank said branches in Benguet, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Cagayan, Kalinga, and Pangasinan are either temporarily closed or will have shortened banking hours on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

The lender said its internet banking platform Metrobank Online, its mobile application, its automated teller machines (ATMs), and cash acceptance machines (CAMs) will remain online and available for customers to conduct their financial transactions.

Several provinces have also announced class and work cancellations on Wednesday:

Classes

  • Cagayan province - all levels, public and private
  • Amadeo, Cavite - primary to secondary levels, public and private
  • Santiago, Isabela - all levels, public and private
  • Laguna - all levels, public and private
  • Calasiao, Pangasinan - all levels, public and private
  • Dagupan, Pangasinan - all levels, public and private
  • Pozorrubio, Pangasinan - all levels, public and private
  • San Carlos, Pangasinan - all levels, public and private
  • Olongapo City - all levels, public and private

Work suspensions

  • Cagayan province - public and private offices
  • Ilocos Norte - government offices
  • Santiago, Isabela - government and private offices
  • Bauko, Mountain Province - government offices
  • Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro - government and private offices including national agencies
  • Calasiao, Pangasinan - government institutions
  • Dagupan, Pangasinan - government institutions
  • Pozorrubio, Pangasinan - government institutions
  • San Carlos, Pangasinan - government institutions

The local governments emphasized, however, that offices that provide basic, health and disaster response services will remain open.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 remains in effect over parts of Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte. Several areas are still under Signal No. 3 and No. 2. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
