Marcos urges HD Hyundai: Partner with CHED, TESDA to develop Pinoy workforce
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Tuesday called on South Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai to partner with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for the creation of projects that will help in developing the Filipino workforce.
Marcos made the call during the announcement of the partnership between US investment firm Cerberus and HD Hyundai in Subic.
The two companies announced the finalization of their lease agreement on a portion of the Agila Subic Shipyard.
''We hope that your investment plans will also be down to the upskilling and reskilling of the Filipino workforce, enabling us to adapt to new technologies required by industry,'' Marcos said in his speech.
''We encourage HD Hyundai to partner with our Commission on Higher Education and Technical Skills Education Development Authority, or TESDA, in finding projects for the development of our very talented workforce,'' he added.
Marcos said the Filipino workforce would bring skills to HD Hyundai as well as the dedication and compassion, which has become the trademark of a Filipino worker.
The President also said HD Hyundai's focus on the development of offshore wind platforms ''holds well for our goal through transitioning to renewable energy.''
''In fact, we have put in place several policies to hasten the rollout of offshore wind projects in the country,'' Marcos said. — BM, GMA Integrated News
