SMIC warns public vs. online scams imitating firm’s website
SM Investments Corporation (SMIC) on Tuesday warned the public against online scams that imitates the company’s website to obtain personal information.
"SM Investments Corporation is cautioning the public against phishing sites and online scams which mirror or copy the company’s website in order to obtain someone’s personal and confidential information," it said in a statement.
“SMIC does not ask individuals for their personal information as part of its operations,” it added.
It also asked the public to be wary of clicking suspicious links and exercise caution in their online activities to avoid falling prey to scams.
SMIC added that it is currently cooperating with authorities in taking down phishing sites that mirror its official website.
