Gasoline, kerosene prices to roll back on April 8, 2025; diesel unchanged

Oil price rollback April 8, 2025

Motorists can enjoy a slight decrease in the pump prices of fuel this week after two straight weeks of hikes.

In separate advisories, Chevron Philippines Inc. (Caltex), Petron Corp., Seaoil Philippines Corp. and Shell Pilipinas Corp. said they will cut prices per liter of gasoline by P0.10, and of kerosene by P0.50. There will be no movement in the price of diesel.

Cleanfuel, Petro Gazz, and PTT Philippines Corp. will implement the same changes, excluding kerosene which they do not carry.

The adjustments will take effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, for all the firms, except for Cleanfuel which will roll back prices at 8:01 a.m. the same day.

Other firms have yet to release their price adjustments for the week as of posting time.

Oil companies usually announce price adjustments every Monday to be implemented on the following day.

The Department of Energy - Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) earlier projected that gasoline and diesel prices would increase this week while kerosene may also have a hike or a rollback.

The possible adjustments of pump prices are attributed to the following developments, according to DOE-OIMB:

  • United States President Donald Trump announced reciprocal tariffs on trading partners including EU, China and Korea, stoking concern that a global trade war may dampen demand for crude;
  • Oil prices dipped slightly as worries about the impact of the trade war on global growth outweighed concern about a hit to supply from threats by US to impose secondary tariffs on Russian crude;
  • China’s refineries expected to decline in both March and April, with the peak maintenance season.

Last week, April 1, oil companies increased the prices per liter of gasoline by P1.40, and diesel and kerosene by P1.20 each.

A week before that, retailers also hiked the prices per liter of gasoline by P1.10, and diesel and kerosene by P0.40 each.

This brought year-to-date adjustments to a net increase of P4.65 per liter for gasoline, P4.45 per liter for diesel, and P0.90 per liter for kerosene as of April 1, 2025.—AOL/BM, GMA Integrated News
