Veteran banker Gil Buenaventura passes away

Veteran banker Gil Buenaventura has passed away, Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) announced Monday.

Buenaventura’s passing was announced through a regulatory filing by RCBC, where he served as director. He was previously president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the bank. Further details of his passing were not immediately available.

Buenaventura previously served as president and chief executive officer of state-owned Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).

He was also head of the Corporate Banking Group for the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), where he also served as senior executive vice president and chief operating officer. Prior to this, he was president of Prudential Bank which BPI absorbed in 2005.

Buenaventura graduated with an economics degree at the University of San Francisco in 1973, and obtained a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin in 1975. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
